Sigma Suisse is seeking for its client, a company in the trading sector, a Staff Infrastructure Engineer in Geneva.
To support its high-performance trading infrastructure and global technical operations, the firm is strengthening its Linux engineering capabilities within a small, deeply technical infrastructure team.
Based in Geneva, this highly autonomous position involves solving complex system-level problems, contributing to architectural decisions, and ensuring the reliability of infrastructure serving global trading desks.
Your responsibilities include:
* System engineering & architecture: Design, build, and maintain scalable Linux-based systems (Debian and/or RedHat) for high-compute environments supporting global trading operations
* Infrastructure automation: Implement infrastructure-as-code using tools like Ansible/Rudder ensuring reproducibility and system integrity
* Operational ownership: Own and troubleshoot advanced infrastructure incidents, coordinating directly with local and remote teams across time zones
* Security & networking: Configure and analyze systems using tools such as iptables, nftables, and tcpdump; integrate SSSD with Active Directory, and ensure secure, efficient connectivity
* Cloud and container technologies: Contribute to the deployment and management of systems using Docker, Azure/AWS, and Terraform, focusing on performance and maintainability
* Collaboration with development teams: Work closely with developers to architect system components needed for application delivery and operational scalability
* Occasional business exposure: While the role is 98% technical, you may occasionally engage with trading teams or support infrastructure for trader-specific applications
Essential qualifications:
* 5 to 10 years of experience in Linux systems engineering or infrastructure architecture
* Proven expertise in Debian or RedHat administration in production environments
* Proficient in basic Bash scripting; experience with Python or Perl is a plus
* Strong practical knowledge of Ansible; Rudder experience is a must
* Hands-on experience with Docker, Apache, Terraform, and relevant networking tools ( tcpdump, nftables)
* Self-starter with strong problem-solving ability and a high level of independence; thrives in low-management, high-responsibility environments
