Role OverviewThe Head of Back Office will establish and lead the company’s post-trade operations and settlement infrastructure, ensuring operational accuracy, financial integrity, and seamless execution across the trading lifecycle.This role sits at the core operational backbone of the trading organization, ensuring that trades executed by the front office are accurately processed, reconciled, settled, and reported.The position plays a critical role in supporting the scalable growth of a global trading platform while maintaining institutional-grade operational controls.
Key Responsibilities
Back Office Leadership
Establish and lead the company’s back office and post-trade operations function.
Define operational frameworks across trade confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
Ensure operational discipline and accuracy across all post-trade activities.
Trade Operations & Settlement
Oversee trade confirmation, contract administration, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
Ensure timely and accurate settlement of physical trading transactions.
Maintain operational integrity across the full post-trade lifecycle.
Operational Controls & Governance
Implement strong operational control frameworks to support trading activities.
Ensure compliance with financial reporting, operational risk, and internal control standards.
Maintain robust reconciliation processes and transaction oversight.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as the operational interface between trading, finance, risk, logistics, and middle office teams.
Ensure operational alignment across the entire trade lifecycle.
Support scalable operational structures as trading volumes expand.
Strategic & Infrastructure Support
Provide operational support for logistics and infrastructure initiatives supporting trading optimization.
Support operational readiness for storage, terminal, and pipeline initiatives.
Contribute operational insight to potential future refinery acquisition initiatives.
Candidate Profile – Mandatory Criteria
⚠️ Only candidates with 10+ years experience within institutional physical commodity trading environments will be considered.
Experience in back office, trade operations, settlements, or post-trade processing within energy trading firms or oil & gas institutions.
Strong understanding of the physical trading lifecycle and post-trade operations.
Experience managing operational processes in high-value, high-volume trading environments.
Strong operational discipline and attention to detail.
Fluent English required; additional languages advantageous.
