Your Role
Are you passionate about ensuring the stability and performance of mission-critical database systems? Do you thrive in high-pressure environments where your expertise directly impacts business continuity?
We’re looking for a Production Support Engineer (L2/L3) with deep expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL to:
* Provide advanced support for database platforms in a hybrid infrastructure (on-premise and cloud).
* Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of database services.
* Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Incident Management: Handle L2/L3 support for Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production issues.
* Monitoring & Alerting: Implement and maintain monitoring tools to proactively detect and resolve issues. Define and track SLIs/SLOs.
* Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and resource utilization.
* Backup & Recovery: Manage backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and high availability configurations (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, PostgreSQL Patroni).
* Change Management: Support deployments, patching, and upgrades with minimal impact to production systems.
* Automation: Develop scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate routine tasks and reduce operational overhead.
* Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and contribute to knowledge bases for faster issue resolution.
Your Team
You’ll be part of a global database support team managing over 25,000 databases, including some of the largest and most complex environments (up to 350TB). The team supports critical platforms using technologies like Oracle RAC, Goldengate, PostgreSQL Patroni, and Azure SQL.
Key Deliverables
* Timely resolution of production incidents and service requests.
* Performance and capacity reports for Oracle/PostgreSQL environments.
* Automation of repetitive tasks to reduce TOIL and improve efficiency.
* Post-incident reviews and problem management to prevent recurrence.
* Support for database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime.
Required Skills
* 5+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle and/or PostgreSQL database administration and production support.
* Strong knowledge of HA/DR solutions, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
* Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., OEM, Prometheus, Grafana) and incident management platforms.
* Scripting skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell for automation.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (especially Azure) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM).
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and self-driven approach.
