Ideally situated along the lake of Geneva, near Lausanne's city center, its campus brings together over 120 nationalities.
Presentation
The Department of Fundamental Microbiology offers a Doctoral Student SNSF position focused on transcription dynamics induced by MAPKs. The position is embedded within the quantitative signaling research group of Dr. Serge Pelet.
Job information
Expected start date: 01.11.2025
Contract length: 1 year, maximum 4 years
Activity rate: 100%
Workplace: University of Lausanne, Dorigny campus.
Your responsibilities
* Study the dynamics of transcription stimulated by MAPK pathways in the model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
* Apply live-cell microscopy assays to monitor the dynamics of transcription upon activation of a MAPK pathway in budding yeast, and investigate how promoter sequences influence transcription dynamics.
* Implement single-molecule imaging techniques to gain deeper insights into transcription factor binding on DNA.
* Combine wet-lab experiments, microscopy measurements, and image analysis to provide training and opportunities for collaborations within a stimulating environment.
Your qualifications
* Master degree in Biology or equivalent; prior experience in yeast biology, signal transduction, or fluorescence microscopy is an asset.
* Strong preference for candidates with wet-lab experience; those without wet-lab affinity will not be considered.
* Good command of English; high motivation to excel in science and a curious mindset.
What the position offers you
We offer a stimulating environment in an international research group within a multicultural, dynamic academic setting, with opportunities for professional training. See the lab website for information on publications and current research.
