About Liom
Liom is a Swiss health-tech startup dedicated to revolutionizing the field of personalized health monitoring. Our objective is to develop the first health wearable monitoring glucose non-invasively. We will launch our wearable as a consumer product in the EU in H1’2027, and then as a medically cleared product in the US. Our team consists of over 80 staff, including more than 50 PhDs, with deep expertise in entrepreneurship, product development, and the required engineering as well as scientific disciplines. We are operating out of our lab facilities in Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland.
Your profile
* PhD or similar terminal degree in a quantitative scientific field (e.g., Engineering subdiscipline, Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Applied Math, Operations Research, Biomedical Informatics) or a publication history in such a field
* Extensive knowledge in each of the areas of cutting edge machine learning and optics/photonics
* Experience with technology transfer, business development, or entrepreneurship
* Hands-on and pragmatic leadership style
* At least 8 years of work experience, preferably in academia or industry characterized by a combination of quantitative analysis of high-dimensional data, preferably but not necessarily in a biomedical domain
* In depth understanding of intellectual property, preferably but not necessarily a track record of patents and patent applications
* Track record of managing complex projects with interdisciplinary members
* Insatiable curiosity, creativity, and thirst for impactful innovation

Your mission
* Apply your creativity at the intersection of cutting-edge machine learning, optics/photonics, and technology transfer/business development
* Plan and organize the development of proof-of-concept for early stage innovation
* Critically evaluate scientific and technical interdisciplinary challenges
* Strategize scientific and technical progress across many disciplines including, but not limited to machine learning, photonics, biomedical sciences, and electronics
* Inspire and identify intellectual property in the developments of the organization
* Coordinate the securing and maintenance of intellectual property rights
* Work closely across functions to develop both the scientific aspects of the technical strategy and the business strategy
