R&D Engineer AVI (Automated Visual Inspection)
Swiss leader in advanced inspection systems is seeking motivated engineers to develop and integrate innovative machine vision solutions for the pharmaceutical and medical industries. You will work on feasibility studies and system integration in a high-tech R&D environment. Young professionals with hands-on experience are encouraged to apply.
Main Activities
1. Perform feasibility studies including system design, evaluation of lighting and camera configurations, image acquisition, and processing in our R&D laboratory.
2. Develop machine vision solutions and optimize existing systems, assessing technical constraints and collaborating with suppliers to enhance visual inspection performance.
3. Design algorithms in configurable image processing software and translate them into AVI recipes for final machines.
4. Test hardware and software components to ensure functionality.
5. Integrate systems into customized inspection machines, AVI-based or combining multiple technologies.
6. Write technical reports on feasibility studies and discuss findings with customers.
7. Conduct training sessions for customers and colleagues.
8. Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams, customers, and strategic AVI partners (software/hardware).
Profile
1. Degree in mechanical engineering, physics, computer science, photonics, optical engineering, electrical engineering, computer/machine vision, industrial image processing, or related field.
2. Strong knowledge of image processing systems and optical system design (camera and lighting systems).
3. Experience programming image processing algorithms.
4. Experience in similar roles and in integrating machine vision systems is preferred.
5. Understanding of pharmaceutical inspection processes and inspection machine structures is advantageous.
6. Willingness to travel 10-20% for projects.
7. Proficiency in German and English (at least B2 level).
8. Proactive, innovative, and able to think out-of-the-box.
9. Excellent communication skills in interdisciplinary environments.
10. Independent, responsible, and systematic work approach.
