If you're passionate about groundbreaking technology and want to make a real impact alongside a fast-paced team that thrives on creativity and collaboration, we’d love to have you on board!
As a global leader, indie's photonics team specializes in developing advanced optical systems and components that drive progress across various industries—from material processing, quantum technologies, LiDAR, navigation, sensing, and imaging, to augmented reality and medical applications.
We are seeking a Mechatronic - Process Engineer on a full-time or near full-time basis (80% - 100%) to develop and improve automated manufacturing processes for advanced light source prototypes and products based on micro-optical integration and automated sub-micron assembly on manufacturing robots. The successful candidate will work with design engineers and operators to ensure the product can be built in high volumes with best-in-class yield and reliability.
Your Responsibilities
* Develop, validate, qualify, and maintain automated assembly processes of light sources in the visible or near-infrared wavelength range, based on micro-optical components.
* Develop, validate, qualify, and maintain manufacturing processes such as gluing with UV-curable epoxies, soldering, wire-bonding, and hermetic packaging.
* Manage and take responsibility for automated packaging platforms (assembly robots) and semiconductor chip testing platforms (testing robots).
* Build prototypes in close collaboration with optical engineers, test new designs, run failure analysis, and explore new packaging technologies.
* Guide and manage transition and production ramp-up of new products from prototypes to high-volume products.
Your Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in applied physics, mechatronics, automation, robotics, or similar fields.
* 2+ years of experience in a production environment.
* Very hands-on and able to troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment.
* Strong analytical skills and a knack for innovative solutions to technically challenging problems.
Desired Qualifications
* Knowledge and experience in free-space optics, semiconductor lasers, or beam collimation.
* Knowledge and experience with SolidWorks.
* Experience with epoxy gluing or solder processes.
* Fluent in writing and speaking English.
