Help us grow and be more impactful!
Facing the challenges of our time
Integrated and Wireless Systems Business Unit, based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is looking for a Digital Radio IC Design Engineer.
Your mission
Join our dynamic team of experienced and emerging RF and Timing integrated circuit (IC) designers in the role of a digital radio IC design engineer. Take responsibility for the design of state‑of‑the‑art radio ICs for both industrial and research projects. Be part of our group's mission to push boundaries and tackle challenges of RF and Timing IC design by focusing on innovation through research, development, and collaboration.
Our focus areas include innovative ultra‑low power ICs for short‑distance wireless communication systems integrated in deep‑submicron CMOS technologies, such as Bluetooth, UWB transceivers for ranging and localization applications, and mm‑wave Radar solutions for presence detection, gesture recognition, and industrial inspection.
Your Responsibilities
* Collaborate with our analog, digital, and RF teams in the development of the next generation radio ICs.
* Participate in the specification and architecture definition of the radios.
* Design and improve the current radio modem and calibration algorithms for the analog blocks.
* Verify and validate the design through simulations, FPGA implementation, and lab characterization.
* Perform backend tasks such as synthesis, place and route, back‑annotated simulations, and final verifications.
* Work together with international customers, universities, and research institutes.
* Plan and document activities, respecting requirements and deadlines.
* Innovate, think out of the box, and challenge yourself.
Your profile
Know‑how
* MSc or PhD degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (electronics or microelectronics).
* Experience in digital IC design.
* Knowledge of digital communication principles, modulation schemes, and wireless modem architectures.
* Understanding of radio architectures and their building blocks (analog and digital) and the trade‑offs in terms of low‑power consumption.
* Signal processing skills at hardware and software level for fundamental building blocks such as filters, interpolators, FFTs, CORDIC, and PID controllers.
* Expertise in HDL languages, especially VHDL.
* Good knowledge of the entire digital flow from design to backend for ASICs and FPGAs.
* Understanding of information theory principles such as signal entropy, compression algorithms, and error correction codes.
* Interest in laboratory measurements.
Interpersonal skills
* Innate curiosity and eagerness to explore, learn, and discover.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.
* Ability to work effectively in a diverse team and collaborate with both experienced and young IC designers.
* Ability to work independently, take initiative, and engage in practical hands‑on activities.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Proactive approach with focus on achieving tangible outcomes.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Capable of organizing tasks efficiently, managing time, and maintaining thorough documentation.
* Fluency in English, with French and German also valued.
