The Opportunity
The Indirect Tax Global Trade practice in Switzerland is part of a strong network of trade and tax professionals across the world. You will work side by side with strategic consultants, tax experts, customs lawyers, accountants, data scientists and system professionals daily. You will obtain a wide range of experience in Customs and international trade within a variety of diverse markets and industries.
Our Indirect Tax Global Trade practice helps multinational corporations address challenges and develop solutions with respect to Customs regulation and agreements, sustainability regulations, indirect tax aspects of business with a focus on supply chains and tax operating models.
We have a great opportunity for highly motivated, ambitious, and hard‑working professionals to join us as a Consultant/Senior Consultant, or depending on experience for other suitable positions, in our EY Switzerland offices (Geneva, Zurich, Basel or Bern).
Your Key Responsibilities
* Manage local and global engagements, including working in cross‑functional teams (VAT, Transfer Pricing, Consulting, Sustainability and Green taxes) and other global EY member firms.
* Support the design and implementation of different (tax) operating models with a focus on indirect tax and customs regulations, especially where cross‑border good movement is involved.
* Project management: meeting deadlines, prioritisation, client management.
* Customs advisory support across different functional areas such as customs valuation, classification, origin, processes and documentation.
* Support on trade compliance review and audits.
* Trade automation and analytics project coordination and working with offshore EY Global Trade Center of Excellence.
* Developing work propositions, including business development initiatives.
* Participate in cross‑functional trainings and contribute to knowledge sharing within the Swiss and global firm.
* Achieve professional ambitions within a young and energetic team and develop technical skills, benefiting from continuous in‑house training and a global experts’ network.
* Continuously increase the reputation and trust of the firm through participation in seminars, presentations, and publications.
Skills and Attributes for Success
* Recognised diploma in Law and/or Economics, preferably from an EU or Swiss university or equivalent foreign diploma. Certified Tax Expert recognition (completed/ongoing) and/or an additional qualification in customs or international trade laws are a plus.
* First experience in Tax or Customs Advisory/Compliance with a genuine interest in Global Trade, Customs, Indirect taxes, and sustainability regulations.
* Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in German, French, Italian or other languages is an additional asset.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; basic AI/prompting understanding and knowledge of data analytics principles are necessary, Power BI and other software are an advantage.
* A humble, autonomous, organised, positive, solution‑oriented, sociable and flexible personality who favours teamwork.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, analytical and synthesis ability, rigorous method and solid deadline management.
* Additional skills and interests in specific business areas such as technology, business architecture, sector knowledge (e.g., Life Sciences, Consumer Products, Medical Devices) are warmly welcomed.
