We are seeking an ambitious Substation / Primary Layout Engineer to support this growth.You will be an experienced engineer in the design and planning of transmission-level onshore substations at voltages from 110kV to 400kV. This includes production of substation primary layouts, primary equipment specifications, equipment rating calculations, busbar short circuit force calculations, earthing studies, impressed voltage calculations, material specification lists, fault calculations, P&C wiring diagrams, protection requirements, and system modelling.You must have full working proficiency in German and a good level of English.At BakerHicks, we're committed to supporting our employees' growth and development. You'll be closely supported by our highly experienced team in the UK, as well as a growing team in the DACH region.There will be opportunities to work on projects across Europe and the UK, including HVAC, HVDC, OHL, and underground cable projects.Your ResponsibilitiesProvide substation layout designs and act as lead substation engineer/planner.Work closely with design teams in the UK to ensure designs comply with local standards.Ensure design scope is delivered on time and within budget.Your ProfileExperience in the production or management of designs, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure in the DACH region.Full working proficiency in German and good English skills.Specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations.Willingness to travel occasionally to BakerHicks offices in Basel and London.Traveling ActivityThe duration of projects typically ranges from 6 to 24 months. Work locations are mainly at the customer site, with some possibility for remote work in consultation with project management.
