We are seeking a highly motivated PhD Student to join our research team in the History of Medicine. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct independent research and contribute to a project examining the clinical use, administrative regulation, and scientific marketing of pediatric pharmaceuticals in Switzerland across the second half of the twentieth century.
About the Project
The PhD-thesis will be realized in the framework of an SNSF Starting Grant project entitled Pediatric Drugs since 1945: From Local Practice to Global Politics.
This project aims to shed light on the interplay between the management of pediatric diseases and the evolving pharmaceutical market in Switzerland and beyond. Potential topics include the history of antibiotics and pediatric infectious diseases, the history of nutrition in children, or the history of psychopharmaceuticals and child psychiatric conditions.
* Conducting original research in the field of the history medicine focusing on the history of pediatrics drugs in Switzerland and beyond
* Contributing to the scientific and public promotion of the research developed (including podcasts, website promotion, collective work, writing articles)
* Helping to coordinate research workshops and conferences associated with the project
* Collaborating with other team members and participating in collective activities and events
Requirements
* Masters degree in History or equivalent qualification
* Proficiency in English language (written and spoken) and good knowledge of German and/or French
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
