Overview
The core team of the Fondation Beyeler conservation department is to be expanded by a further member. You have a strong passion for art and artists, at least 5 years of experience as a museum conservator, and enjoy working in a dynamic team. Ideally, your specialization is in modern materials and you are well versed in carrying out high-quality conservation and restoration work. You also have a large network in museum and conservation circles and are familiar with the latest principles of conservation and preventive conservation. You are solution-oriented, interested in new challenges, and want to share responsibility within a motivated team. German comprehension is a must.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the preventive conservation standards in the upcoming new building of the Fondation Beyeler
* Conservation liaison with the facility and security staff of the upcoming new building
* Conservator in charge of installation and de-installation of temporary exhibitions in the new building
* Conservation care of the collection and permanent loans when in the new building
* Conservation and research of the collection within the field of modern materials
* Managing interdisciplinary conservation projects
* Preparing and couriering collection works for travelling loans
* Public outreach for the conservation department in the museum and on online platforms
Your profile
* A master's degree in conservation, ideally specializing in modern materials
* At least 5 years of experience as a museum conservator
* Fluent in written and spoken German, good comprehension of English, French an advantage
* Good IT skills (Office, image editing, museum database)
* Pleasure in carrying out documentation work
* Independent, structured, and quality-conscious approach to work
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Flexibility, agility and strong teamwork
