We're hiring an Electronic Hardware Engineer to design, develop, and verify electronic control boards for next-generation Energy Storage Systems, with a focus on safety-critical aerospace applications. This role involves working within a Part-21J Design Organization, contributing to high-reliability hardware in compliance with DO-254, DO-160, and CS-23 standards. Electronic Hardware Engineer - 6 months - Valais Aerospace industry Description Design & Development Design and simulate mixed-signal circuits (analog/digital, HV/LV, current & temperature sensing). Integrate input protection, EMI/ESD filtering, and power management blocks (, DC/DC converters). Incorporate digital communication protocols (CAN, RS485, RS232) and microcontroller-based systems. Develop schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer or similar ECAD tools. Specialization in analog circuit design is a strong advantage. Documentation & Compliance Prepare detailed design descriptions, FMEA, MTBF calculations, and analysis reports. Ensure full traceability and version control of engineering data in line with DO-254. Testing & System Integration Define and execute Qualification Test Plans (QTP) and Verification Test Procedures (VTP). Support PCB debugging, system-level integration, and de-risking activities. Contribute to the development of test benches and Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP). Conduct environmental and functional testing according to RTCA/DO-160. Process & Quality Comply with internal and regulatory processes related to configuration management, safety, and documentation. Promote quality through peer reviews, design checklists, and robust change control procedures. Profile Education & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering. Technical apprenticeship (CFC or equivalent) in electronics is a strong asset. 3-5 years of experience in safety-critical hardware development (aerospace, automotive, medical, or industrial sectors). Technical Competencies Proficiency in: Mixed analog/digital circuit design (SPICE-based simulation tools such as Simetrix). Power electronics, protection circuits, and filtering. Communication protocols (CAN, RS485, RS232). Schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer or similar. Familiarity with: EMI/EMC design principles and PCB layout best practices. IPC standards and manufacturability considerations. Thermal and mechanical integration (asset). Environmental and qualification testing (DO-160). Certification standards: DO-254, CS-23, and EASA/FAA frameworks. Tools: Altium, MATLAB, Simetrix, version control and configuration tools. Soft Skills Structured, detail-oriented, and quality-focused. Strong documentation and compliance discipline. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
