Lead AI & Robotics Project Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead AI & Robotics Project Engineer to drive the deployment of robotic systems and AI/ML applications in our gas‑insulated switchgear & power electronic drive factory.
Responsibilities (What you will do)
* Analyze manufacturing processes in close collaboration with cross‑functional teams to proactively identify automation, robotization, and AI/ML opportunities.
* Lead and coordinate the planning, execution, and delivery of robotics and AI projects—from concept and business case through design, testing, commissioning, and handover—working with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, maintenance, safety, quality) and external vendors/integrators.
* Serve as a key partner for the site to leverage AI capabilities (including AMP with GE Vernova): Coach and upskill teams on AI technologies and tools and guide functions in identifying, shaping, and developing their own AI use cases.
* Act as the primary interface between operational teams and IT/digital stakeholders to align business needs and technical requirements, ensuring robust integration of robotics, automation, and AI systems with enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP, MES, Windchill).
* Validate end‑to‑end data flow and system compatibility, including master data, production orders, traceability, and real‑time data capture and usage.
* Support network infrastructure planning, cybersecurity compliance, and overall digital architecture design to enable secure, scalable deployment of robotic and AI solutions.
* Contribute to the development and execution of the factory’s robotics, automation, and digitalization roadmap, ensuring alignment with broader business and technology strategies.
* Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of test and control concepts for gas‑insulated high‑voltage switchgear and associated drives to ensure robust quality control and quality assurance.
Requirements (What You Will Bring)
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics) or related field for Robotics & AI.
* Experience: Proven experience delivering Robotics & Automation projects in manufacturing environments, combined with hands‑on experience applying AI/ML to operations (e.g., analysis, time‑series forecasting, anomaly detection, computer vision for quality/inspection, optimization, basic NLP/LLM).
* Languages: Strong communication skills in German and English, both written and spoken.
* Skills: Programming sophisticated PLC programs (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Omron SYSMAC Studio).
