Data Engineer (m / f / d)
Background :
As a Senior Data Engineer at Diagnostics Operations Rotkreuz, you will lead the development and optimization of a robust data infrastructure that drives our DOD operations and data products. In this strategic role, you'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams—including data scientists, subject matter experts, and fellow data engineers—to design, transform, and enhance data assets that are foundational to our advanced modelling approaches. You'll take a lead role in shaping and scaling data product standards across DIA Global Operations, ensuring alignment, quality, and impact at the organizational level. Beyond hands-on contributions, you'll provide technical guidance to juniors and fellow data engineers, establishing best practices and fostering a culture of innovation.
The perfect candidate
The ideal candidate has a Master's degree in Computer Science or Data Engineering and over 5 years' experience in data engineering, with a proven track record in architecting and scaling large data systems. Experience in building and managing data pipelines and products is essential.
Tasks & Responsibilities :
1. Lead Data Pipelines & Storage: Design and build scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch processing. Drive architectural decisions and long-term planning for scalable, FAIR data products.
2. High-Quality Data Products: Create high-quality data products adhering to FAIR principles. Address complex challenges, ensure compliance, and shape data roadmaps.
3. Collaboration & Integration: Model data landscapes, acquire data extracts, and define secure exchange methods with cross-functional teams.
4. Data Ingestion & Processing: Ingest and process data from diverse sources into platforms like Snowflake. Develop ERDs and reusable pipelines for analytics.
5. Technical Guidance & Governance: Contribute to data governance standards, ensure compliance and security, mentor team members, and promote best practices.
6. Information Security & Infrastructure Collaboration: Ensure adherence to security standards, collaborate on tech stacks, and make strategic data decisions.
7. Innovation & Knowledge Sharing: Define data engineering standards, share best practices, and shape the data engineering roadmap.
8. Technical Proficiency: Maintain expertise in data engineering tools, quality, and observability platforms like Ataccama and Monte Carlo.
9. Adherence to Standards: Ensure compliance with data governance guidelines and develop enterprise tools.
Must Have :
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
* Over 5 years in data engineering with experience in large data systems.
* Leadership experience in mentoring data engineers.
* Proven experience with data pipelines and products.
* Skilled in handling various data types.
* Proficiency in Python, Java, SQL, or Scala; experience with Hadoop, Spark.
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data warehousing (Snowflake).
* Deep understanding of information security.
* Knowledge of data modeling, ETL tools, version control, CI/CD pipelines.
* Experience with client-facing projects and effective communication skills.
* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Nice to Have :
* 3+ years in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
* Experience with REST APIs, regulatory requirements, AI, ML platforms.
