IT Systems Specialist

Your responsibilities
This position combines infrastructure development (~40%) with user-oriented IT support (~10%) in a heterogeneous scientific environment.
Initial fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension and increased workload.
IT Infrastructure & Systems (primary focus)
Maintain, develop, and improve workstations, servers, and scientific instrument computers (Windows, macOS, Linux)
Support and further develop network connectivity in coordination with central IT services of the University
Manage and support virtualization and container-based environments
Ensure and contribute to system reliability (backup, updates, monitoring)
Support & Operations (limited scope), in collaboration with additional IT support personnel
Provide user-oriented IT support (analysis, prioritization, and resolution of issues)
Act as a local interface to central IT services (1st and 2nd level support)
Coordination & Projects
Contribute to IT security, asset management (GLPI), and system documentation
Support web and digital services (updates, access, and content workflows)
Assist with procurement and lifecycle management of hardware and software
Collaborate closely with researchers, lab managers, and administration
Your profile
Training in IT / computer science or equivalent professional experience
Strong hands‑on experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux environments
Solid understanding of networking, virtualization, and container technologies
Experience in troubleshooting complex IT infrastructures (hardware and software)
Structured, service-oriented, and proactive working style
Strong communication skills in German and English
Experience in a scientific or academic environment is an asset
