Description
SBC Switzerland is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced System Engineer Architect to lead the design and development of our next-generation PLC controller systems. This role is critical in shaping the architecture of our industrial automation solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance across diverse applications.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware, firmware, software, and product management to define system-level requirements and drive architectural decisions from concept to production. You will work on a 3/2 Hybrid basis working from either Rolle or Givisie.
Responsibilities
* Architect and design system-level solutions for PLC controllers, integrating hardware, firmware, and software components.
* Define and maintain system requirements, interface specifications, and performance benchmarks.
* Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, and validation strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
* Collaborate with R&D teams to ensure modular, scalable, and maintainable system architectures.
* Evaluate and select technologies, platforms, and tools aligned with long-term product strategy.
* Support compliance and certification efforts (e.g., IEC 61131, industrial communication protocols).
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and documentation standards.
Qualifications
Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
* Extensive experience in system engineering or architecture roles, preferably in industrial automation or embedded systems.
* Strong understanding of PLC systems, industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC-UA,Profinet, BACnet), and real-time operating systems (eg. QNX, Linux).
* Experience with embedded software development, hardware-software co-design, and system integration.
* Experience servicing customers with critical environments, knowledge of building control domain would be valuable.
* Proven track record in architecting complex systems with high reliability and performance requirements.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
