Overview
Senior Project Manager (Capex Project) EN/FR – Experis Switzerland. The role provides strategic and technical direction for major capex initiatives, with accountability for timing of milestones, budgets, resources, and risk management. The position oversees multi-disciplinary, technical teams through the execution of a state-of-the-art aseptic filling line commissioning, qualification and validation, and ensures a timely transition from project phase to operations.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic and technical direction to the Senior Leadership Team concerning timing of major milestones, critical path deliverables, budget, resource planning, implementation, and variances.
* Guide multi-disciplinary, highly technical teams through the finalization of a major capex project involving all internal functional area directors and stakeholders above site.
* Act as subject matter expert in project management disciplines and orchestrate commissioning, qualification and validation of a new aseptic filling line.
* Ensure a timely transition from project phase to operations according to plan and budget.
* Communicate project performance information to the SLT, stakeholders above site (OpU Biologics, Global Engineering), and external stakeholders (contracted teams, suppliers).
* Verify, control, and endorse complex inter-program Gantt charts, budget forecasts and variance reports, resource plans, communication plans, and risk mitigation plans.
* Lead change management during handover to the Lead End User and create contingency plans for risk due to project complexity and high stakes.
* Organize and facilitate technical and project management meetings with major stakeholder groups; participate in authorized on- and off-site meetings as relevant.
Qualifications and Experience
* B.A./B.S. and/or M.S. in engineering, biological sciences, or other relevant discipline with capex project management experience.
* Minimum of 15 years’ project/operational management experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries, in a multi-disciplinary, global environment.
* Minimum of 10 years of people/matrix management experience; experience managing a global, matrix team.
* Deep knowledge of aseptic filling processes, commercial filling lines (preferably biologics), and knowledge of cGxP. Strong leadership, team-building, and strategic problem-solving abilities.
* Experience leading others through change and managing matrix teams; ability to influence outcomes and key project decisions.
* Strong communication and collaboration with senior management and external collaborators; ability to build strong relationships.
* Knowledge of risk management, project reporting, and project management tools.
* Project management certification (PMP, Prince2, SCPM, etc.) or equivalent experience is required.
* Languages: English and French.
Accountabilities
* Finalization of a major capex project, ensuring successful engineering runs (ER) and process & performance qualification (PPQ) in collaboration with the site Manufacturing team.
* Communicate project performance to the SLT, site stakeholders (OpU Biologics, Global Engineering), and external partners (contracted teams, suppliers).
* Keep project customers informed of activities and status, including high-level planning and detailed meeting minutes; endorse Gantt charts, budgets, resource plans, communication and risk plans.
* Ensure compliance with established practices, policies and processes; guide teams toward defined scope and timely delivery of milestones within budget and scope using project management tools.
* Lead change management during handover to the Lead End User; create contingency plans for risk mitigation due to project complexity.
* Experience across capital phases of a major construction project with emphasis on ER and PPQ in state-of-the-art aseptic filling lines in biologics.
* Organize and facilitate technical and project management meetings with major stakeholder groups; participate in relevant meetings and activities.
