This Functional Safety Engineer role offers the opportunity to work at the core of safety-critical ASIC development, ensuring functional safety is built into complex semiconductor products from concept through to production. You’ll work closely with design, verification and system teams, influencing architecture decisions and supporting certification activities in a highly technical environment.
Our client is an established semiconductor design house specialising in mixed-signal ASICs used across industrial, automotive and high-reliability applications. They are looking for someone who can take ownership of safety activities and work confidently across both engineering teams and external stakeholders.
As the Functional Safety Engineer, you’ll define safety concepts, lead safety analyses, and support certification processes while acting as a key interface for both customers and assessors.
Responsibilities Include
* Defining and managing safety concepts and technical safety requirements
* Performing safety analyses (FMEDA, FMEA, DFA) and supporting verification reviews
* Supporting implementation of safety mechanisms (diagnostics, redundancy, fault detection)
* Preparing safety documentation including Safety Manuals
* Acting as the interface with customers and certification bodies
What You’ll Bring
* Experience in ASIC development within safety-critical environments
* Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508
* Hands‑on experience with FMEDA and hardware safety analysis
* Ability to work across architecture, design and verification teams
* Strong documentation and communication skills
You’ll join a technically strong organisation with a long-standing track record in ASIC development, offering the chance to work on complex, safety-critical products with real-world impact. The role provides strong technical exposure, flexibility, and the opportunity to take ownership of functional safety across the full product lifecycle.
