Ophta is the official ophthalmological specialist journal of the Swiss Ophthalmological Society (SOG) and has been publishing for 30 years. It is available in German and French and covers clinical expertise, professional society topics, and health‑policy developments within Swiss ophthalmology.
Since January 2026, Ophta has joined the healthbook ecosystem, working closely with editors‑in‑chief, the Editorial Board, the SOG, and the healthbook team to strategically further develop the publication and complementary training, knowledge and exchange formats.
In this role you work at the interface between Ophta, the SOG, the ophthalmological professional community, the educational offerings of healthbook and the communication and training activities of H+O communications.
Your mission
You will be a key driver in further developing Ophta as a professionally relevant, independent, and connecting platform for ophthalmologists in Switzerland. This involves knowledge transfer and fostering exchange between clinics, practicing doctors, the professional society, the Editorial Board, authors and readers. You will strengthen Ophta as the voice and interface of Swiss ophthalmology.
Your tasks
* Editorial and strategic development of Ophta in close coordination with the Editors‑in‑Chief, the Editorial Board, the SOG and the healthbook team
* Planning of topics for print, online, newsletters and digital formats
* Support, coordination and acquisition of authors
* Expansion and maintenance of an existing network of ophthalmology experts
* Promotion of professional exchange with readers, clinics, practising ophthalmologists and other stakeholders
* Identification of relevant scientific, clinical, professional‑society and health policy topics
* Development of new training, knowledge and exchange formats for the ophthalmological professional community
* Participation in congress reporting, expert interviews, CME activities and community formats
* Representation of Ophta within the ophthalmological professional community and at the interface with the SOG
* Support in expanding future Ophthalmology Knowledge Hubs within the healthbook ecosystem
Your profile
* Medical, scientific or comparable academic background
* Ideally experience in ophthalmology, medical communication, Medical Affairs, specialist publishing, training or professional society work
* Enjoyment of scientific, clinical and professional‑society topics and their practical communication
* Knowledge of the Swiss healthcare landscape; experience in the ophthalmological environment is an advantage
* Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken, and good French skills
* Entrepreneurial thinking, willingness to shape and interest in innovation
* Independent, structured and reliable working style
* Enjoyment of working with renowned experts, authors and an interdisciplinary team
