Job Overview
You will lead an internationally recognized Research Unit comprising seven research groups and approximately 100 collaborators from around 20 countries. As a distinguished ecologist, you will contribute to national and international projects focusing on forest or soil science. Your role involves integrating diverse research fields, promoting the scientific and strategic development of the groups, and aligning the unit with WSL’s vision of fostering research for people and the environment in a changing world.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and inspire a research unit with multiple groups and international collaborators.
2. Engage with forest authorities and expert organizations for impactful collaborations.
3. Manage large research projects and serve as Principal Investigator for significant initiatives.
4. Promote knowledge transfer and scientific development within the unit.
Qualifications
* Advanced stage of scientific career with experience in leading research teams and managing large projects.
* Strong publication record and international network.
* Deep expertise in forest ecology, soil processes, or tree functions.
* Initiative, leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one Swiss national language.
