Mission
Design, maintain, and promote a shared system design platform that advances research and education in complex Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) and embedded computing at EPFL.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Creating a system design platform accessible to all EPFL labs to facilitate research and development of complex SoCs and related embedded systems.
* Maintaining and expanding this platform in collaboration with EPFL labs by systematically extending it based on EPFL research.
* Overseeing the creation and distribution of Open-Source Hardware-based platforms and design methodologies for EPFL research.
* Providing training for PhD students and actively participating in hands‑on teaching, including the development of new, dedicated classes (currently lacking in our curriculum) on embedded computing platforms.
* Promoting the platform’s use inside and outside EPFL, for instance, in EPFL MAKE projects.
Profile
* Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; or M.Sc. with minimum 5 years of industrial experience in IC design.
* Strong expertise in one or more of the following: digital design (RTL, synthesis), RF design, or low‑power design.
* Proficiency with industry‑standard EDA tools (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics).
* Solid understanding of CMOS technology and semiconductor device physics.
* Experience with tape‑out and silicon validation is a plus.
* Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Experience with FinFET or advanced node technologies.
* Publications or patents in IC design are a strong plus.
We offer
* A dynamic and multicultural work environment in a multidisciplinary institution of international standing
* The opportunity to participate in large‑scale, motivating and varied projects
* Attractive working conditions
