IPIT Lawyer – Practical Law, Thomson Reuters
We are seeking an experienced IPIT lawyer to join the Practical Law team. The role is part of Thomson Reuters and focuses on creating and maintaining insightful, customer‑focused content for online publication and supporting the development of AI‑powered legal solutions.
Responsibilities
* Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice, customer needs, and business objectives.
* Review and edit content created by colleagues or external expert contributors.
* Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
* Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer‑focused Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions and internal AI editorial tools.
* Develop an excellent understanding of the legal market, customers, emerging needs, and competitors; interact effectively with customers, consultation boards and contributors.
* Work with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions to deliver insight into business strategies and support the development of Practical Law Germany and broader Practical Law.
* Attend training events, conferences, talks, and network with customers and industry leaders.
Qualifications
Mandatory
* German‑qualified lawyer, must be admitted to the German Bar.
* At least 5 years post‑qualification experience as an IP and/or IT lawyer in a law firm or in‑house in Germany.
* Substantial experience with German IP and/or IT law.
* Excellent writing and communication skills in English, with a passion for clear, concise, plain English content.
* Collaborative mindset; ability to work independently and in teams.
* Strong technical skills; proficient in utilizing a variety of tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
* Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects within the generative AI space and new technologies.
* Experience using AI tools in legal work; excellent knowledge of online research databases.
* Comfortable working with ambiguity and in a matrixed environment; proven ability to build strong relationships with diverse teams.
Desirable
* Proficient translation skills for legal documentation between German and English.
* Curious mindset about AI and legal practice, open to change.
