Proclinical is seeking a Packaging Engineer to support packaging development and industrialization for combination products within the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. This role involves working on diverse projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and contributing to innovative solutions in packaging systems. Responsibilities
* Assess and develop new materials, alternative packaging options, or systems aligned with product, regulatory, business, and technical requirements.
* Communicate key risks, challenges, and considerations to stakeholders as appropriate.
* Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including requirements, risk assessments, protocols, and reports.
* Incorporate industrialisation needs for high‑volume products into packaging development workflows.
* Support packaging verification activities, including qualification plans, protocols, reports, and summary documents.
* Provide guidance and consultation to customers and suppliers, offering indirect leadership when required.
* Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturing organisations (CMOs), with occasional national and international travel (up to 10%).
Key Skills and Requirements
* Advanced degree (e.g., MSc) in engineering, packaging, materials science, or a related field.
* Background in medical device regulation and package engineering within the pharma or medical device industry.
* Experience in project management, including budget planning, timeline planning, and problem‑solving.
* Knowledge of ISO 13485 and ASTM standards (e.g., D4169, D7386) and container closure integrity testing.
* Hands‑on experience in GMP environments and authoring technical documents.
* Strong communication skills, with confidence in presenting, networking, and building relationships.
* Collaborative team player who works efficiently and flexibly within interdisciplinary teams.
* Decision‑making capabilities, with the ability to lead when necessary.
* Fluent in English (written and spoken); German language skills are a plus.
