Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Captive Reinsurance
The Opportunity
An elite international organization is seeking a high-caliber Chief Financial Officer to spearhead the financial strategy of its Zurich-based captive reinsurance entity. This is a pivotal leadership role designed for a strategic visionary who thrives at the intersection of complex global finance and specialized reinsurance structures.
Reporting directly to the CEO and the Board of Directors, you will serve as a critical partner in ensuring the long-term financial sustainability and capital efficiency of the entity while navigating a sophisticated regulatory landscape.
Key Responsibilities
As the financial lead for this specialized entity, your remit will cover:
1. Strategic Financial Leadership: Lead all financial planning, multi-year forecasting, and budgeting initiatives to support the group’s overarching strategic plan.
2. Capital & Balance Sheet Optimization: Drive balance sheet strength through efficient capital management and the evaluation of run-off opportunities and financial models.
3. Regulatory & Statutory Excellence: Oversee statutory accounting and ensure full integrity of financial statements in compliance with FINMA, IFRS, and Swiss GAAP FER.
4. Risk & Compliance Oversight: Manage internal controls, treasury, and financial risk management in close collaboration with actuaries, auditors, and regulators.
5. Stakeholder Management: Represent the firm before Swiss regulatory authorities and maintain strategic relationships with international corporate partners.
6. Operational Transformation: Lead high-performance teams and implement advanced technological tools to enhance operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an expert in the Swiss reinsurance market with a global mindset.
7. Experience: 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in reinsurance, captives, or senior finance roles.
8. Local Expertise: Proven track record working within the Swiss regulatory framework (FINMA) and a deep understanding of Swiss GAAP FER.
9. Technical Mastery: Background in M&A processes, portfolio transfers, complex audits, and financial litigation.
10. Academic Excellence: Master’s degree in Finance, Insurance, or Business, with specialized knowledge in Corporate Finance or Risk Management.
11. Linguistic Skills: Fluency in Spanish and English is required to engage with our international stakeholders. Professional proficiency in German is highly desirable; French or Italian is a plus.
12. Leadership Style: A collaborative leader with cross-cultural competence and the ability to solve complex problems under high-pressure scenarios.
