RedcoMet Resources AG is a growing global commodities trading company, specialised in the procurement, distribution, and trading of various base- and precious metal bearing concentrates and refined metals.
We are looking for a Junior Trader (Physical Base Metals & Derivatives)to join our team at our headquarters in Baar, Switzerland.
Main tasks – and responsibilities
Supporting our trading activities, including pricing, deal execution, and documentation for non-ferrous metals and concentrate products (mainly copper, gold, silver, lead, zinc)
Developing and managing relationship with core counterparties including suppliers, trading banks and other local stakeholders
Monitoring market trends and changes in order to identify new business opportunities
Working closely with senior traders, taking responsibility for P&L monitoring and support in structuring deals
Ensuring smooth trade execution by coordinating with Operations and Logistics teams and supporting contract review and preparation in line with internal processes
Handling of metal and FX hedges, including collection of physical pricings and preparation of daily hedge instructions.
Booking contractual pricings and futures trades into the system and maintaining/controlling London Metal Exchange (LME) positions.
Controlling of price risk management by co-ordinating hedge orders, positions and settlements on a daily basis.
Reconciliation of the LME positions on a daily and monthly basis with the broker and issuing daily clearing instructions.
Agreeing and settling Broker Difference Accounts and Margin calls on a daily basis.
Monitoring market movements and contribute to the development of basic pricing strategies using both physical and derivative tools (e.g. LME futures)
Applying and further developing your knowledge of risk management concepts, including hedging strategies and exposure tracking in the base metals market
Qualifications:
A solid educational background (commercial apprenticeship) or bachelor’s degree in business, finance or economics
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in trading, commercial or operations roles within base metals and/or commodity derivatives
Strong knowledge and experience gained in base metal concentrates market, preferably in a trading house
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Fluency in English and German, further languages are of advantage.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Holding a Swiss work permit or passport holder of CH / EU
