Position Overview:
At Roche/Genentech Pharma Product Development Global Clinical Operations (PDG), we aim to transform drug development and deliver 20 transformative medicines addressing high-burden diseases by 2029. We seek a Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader to oversee our Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism (CVRM) Portfolio. This senior leadership role involves strategic and operational accountability for clinical trials and enterprise collaboration.
Our mission is to improve patients’ lives worldwide through innovative medicines in Oncology, Hematology, Neurology, Immunology, Ophthalmology, Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism. We operate globally with centers in Basel, South San Francisco, Welwyn Garden City, Mississauga, and Shanghai, among others.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and Evolve CVRM Portfolio Strategy: Define and refine the clinical operations strategy aligned with the Clinical Development Plan and corporate strategy.
2. Oversight and Risk Management: Monitor portfolio progress, identify risks proactively, and implement mitigation strategies.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration: Align and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimize portfolio delivery.
4. Operational Leadership and Innovation: Use analytics to enhance efficiency, quality, and success rates; foster innovation in clinical operations.
5. Representation and Influence: Act as the voice of PDG in CVRM, building relationships with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
6. Leadership and Team Development: Lead and develop a matrixed team of approximately 150 employees, including direct reports, fostering a culture of high performance and inclusion.
7. Enterprise Leadership: Contribute to broader organizational goals as a member of the Portfolio Delivery Leadership Team.
8. People Management: Drive engagement, provide feedback, coaching, and manage administrative HR responsibilities.
Qualifications:
* 15+ years in pharmaceutical clinical operations, with at least 10 years in strategy leadership in global settings.
* Deep knowledge of Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolic diseases and experience with large endpoint-driven trials.
* Proven success in strategy development, data-driven decision-making, and expanding access to underserved populations.
* Experience managing large, matrixed teams and fostering collaboration.
* Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus; willingness to travel internationally.
This role can be based in Basel, Switzerland; South San Francisco, USA; Welwyn, UK; or Mississauga, Canada, with expectations for ongoing presence at the chosen site. Relocation benefits are available.
