Overview of RoleWe are seeking a talented and experienced (Senior) Software Engineer to help shape and advance our digital banking offering. Although our solution is underpinned by the Avaloq platform, we retain substantial autonomy in customising and extending its functionality — particularly on the front end.In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing user-centric features, collaborating with cross-functional teams and integrating with third-party services. You will also have the opportunity to influence architectural decisions, contribute to DevOps practices, and play a key role in evolving our client-facing digital experience.Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate product vision into high-quality, user-focused front-end applicationsDesign, develop, and integrate new features and enhancements into existing systemsCollaborate closely with the Digital Product Owner to continuously refine and improve the solutionDrive the creation of technical specifications and component designs in close partnership with the IT Digital Banking Application Manager, ensuring scalable, maintainable architectureEstimate effort and assess technical complexity of new features and user storiesContribute to third-level support activities and carry out relevant configuration tasks as requiredEngage with third-party vendors, particularly Avaloq, to validate, test, and integrate external components and bug fixesProduce clear and comprehensive technical documentation and contribute to overall architectural designRequired Skills, Experience and CompetenciesBachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related disciplineMinimum of five years' hands-on experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on front-end development (preferably using Angular or a comparable modern JavaScript framework)Previous experience within banking, financial services or wealth managementProficient in HTML, CSS/Sass, and responsive UI designExperience working with RESTful APIs and JSON-based data structuresSolid understanding of web and mobile front-end technologies and customer-facing application designFamiliarity with the Avaloq ecosystem, particularly the Avaloq Front Platform (AFP) and Avaloq Mobile App is highly desirableExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams, while adopting a proactive and structured approach to problem-solvingSelf-driven and adaptable, demonstrating independence in work while maintaining alignment with team goals and fostering a cohesive, team-oriented environmentFluency in English is essential; German language skills would be an advantageBenefitsRothschild & Co is committed to safeguarding and enhancing the health and wellbeing of all its employees.
