Are you a mechanical engineer looking to take your skills to the next level in cutting-edge technology? We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Designer to join our team and contribute to the development of next-generation superconducting magnets. As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a key role in designing, testing, and optimizing mechanical systems and tooling critical for manufacturing advanced magnet components.
About the Project
We are pushing the boundaries of superconducting magnet design and manufacturing in our section. These magnets rely on materials with extraordinary electrical and mechanical properties, presenting unique challenges that demand creativity, precision, and specialized tools. In this project, your work will directly contribute to the development of a demonstrator dipole for a next-generation medical accelerator magnet.
Your Responsibilities
* Design and Engineering: Develop mechanical designs for magnet components, assembly tooling, and production processes, incorporating advanced techniques such as additive manufacturing.
* Manufacturing Support: Design specialized tooling for coil winding, heat treatment in controlled gas environments, vacuum impregnation, brazing, and high-precision assembly of delicate components.
* Collaboration: Partner with engineers and technical teams to transform concepts into practical, manufacturable solutions.
* Quality Assurance: Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards to ensure the precision and compatibility of designs.
* Technical Expertise: Utilize CATIA (or equivalent 3D CAD software) to create parametric models and detailed technical drawings that meet ISO standards.
This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team at the forefront of superconducting magnet development, where your skills will help shape the future of accelerator and medical technologies. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the designs meet the required specifications and are optimized for production.
