everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably. Our inspiring and caring
environment forms a global community that celebrates diversity and
individuality. We encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone,
offering resources and flexibility to foster your professional and
personal growth, all while valuing your unique contributions. Apply
now for the position of a PhD Student jointly offered by the Centre
Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) and the Swiss Innovation
Hub of Siemens Healthineers and you will innovate in the areas of
motion-resolved liver imaging and interventions on low-field MRI. 4
Years PhD Fellowship in Collaboration with CHUV-UNIL - On-site -
(m/f/d) This PhD position plays a key role in the long-standing
15-year partnership between Siemens Healthineers and the CHUV-UNIL
Translational Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center. In a unique
setting at the interface between clinical and methods research -
and translation to the “real world” to benefit patients, you will
explore the potential of advanced motion sensing and compensation
techniques with focus on liver imaging and interventions on
low-field MRI. You will work onsite at our offices at the CHUV and
the EPFL Innovation Park, fully embedded in dynamic teams and
well-connected to researchers, clinicians and Healthineers. The
setting at the CHUV and in the Swiss Innovation Hub is unique, as
you will be surrounded by passionate Healthineers, researchers,
clinicians and students striving to translate innovation into the
clinics, to make the latest technology available for patient care.
While being exposed to these diverse inputs, you will be a
full-fledged researcher, working with scientific rigor and
independence on your project; you will be able to go to conferences
and publish your findings in peer-reviewed journals. Your role: -
You will explore new methods to acquire and reconstruct MR images,
developing scientifically sound and innovative solutions. - With
support and caring supervision, you will learn to autonomously
solve a scientific problem. - You will translate your successful
developments to a first prototype stage to validate them in
real-life settings. - You will disseminate your work at scientific
conferences and in leading journals of the field. - To validate
your results, you will interact with clinical and research partners
locally, nationally, and worldwide. - You may travel both
internationally and domestically for collaboration visits and
conferences. Your expertise: - You have completed a Master Thesis
in a topic related to engineering, mathematics, physics or similar.
- You have experience with programming in C++ and Python or Matlab.
- You are familiar with MRI (e.g., MR physics, methods for MR image
reconstruction, etc.). - You have experience with solving inverse
problems – ideally inverse problems in the context of medical
imaging or image reconstruction using both traditional and machine
learning based methods. - Your hands-on experience with MRI
equipment and/or experience with the IDEA sequence programming
would come as a plus. Your attributes and skills: - Organising
yourself and working independently comes easy to you. You also do
not have problems to ask for help if you are stuck. - You work with
scientific rigor and have already written a scientific text (e.g.,
your Master Thesis). - You like to interact with different people,
and you are motivated by being able to bridge the gaps between
research, industry, and clinical medicine. - You are creative and
can overcome obstacles. Who we are: We are a team of more than
73,000 highly dedicated Healthineers in more than 70 countries. As
