Structural Analysis and Test Engineer
About the Company: ANAVIA specializes in the design, development & manufacturing of vertical takeoff & landing (VTOL) systems of up to 500 kilograms. The company offers industry leading unmanned helicopter systems for various mission profiles, such as Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Inspection or Mapping & Cargo.
As a Structural Analysis and Test Engineer, you will perform detailed finite element analysis (FEA) to assess the structural integrity of unmanned helicopter components, conduct load and fatigue analyses, analyze composite and metallic structures, execute structural testing, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure design and performance integration.
Your main tasks: Structural Analysis and Simulation: Perform detailed finite element analysis (FEA, e.g. FEMAP, NASTRAN, ANSYS) to assess the structural integrity of unmanned helicopter components, including rotor heads, propulsion systems, composite structures, and landing gear. Load and Fatigue Analysis: Conduct static, dynamic, vibration and fatigue analyses to evaluate performance under operational and extreme load conditions. Assess the impact of cyclic loads on rotating machinery and composite materials. Composite and Metallic Structures: Analyze composite layups, bonding interfaces and hybrid metal‑composite structures, ensuring optimized strength‑to‑weight ratios and compliance with aerospace standards. Test and Correlation: Highly desirable having developed and executed structural testing, including strain gauge instrumentation, accelerometers and DAQ systems. Correlate test data with FEA predictions, refining models to improve simulation accuracy. Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, testing procedures and maintenance manuals. Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, aerodynamic and software engineering teams to ensure integrated design and performance of the unmanned helicopter systems. Compliance Assurance: Ensure mechanical designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations and company policies. Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advancements in mechanical engineering and UAV technology, integrating best practices into analysis processes.
With this you convince us: Education: Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field and (3) years of industry experience. Doctoral degree is equivalent to industry experience. Experience: Proven experience in structural analysis, preferably in the manned helicopter industry. A must is either composite structures or rotating machinery and components experience. Hands‑on experience with structural testing is desirable. Skills: Strong understanding of finite element principles, materials science and failure criteria. Proficiency in FEA software (ANSYS and OptiStruct preferred) and simulation tools. Communication: Very good communication skills. High social skills and good analytical and excellent technical understanding.
