About Etanox

Etanox is a Swiss aerospace start-up developing compact, high-performance chemical propulsion systems for small satellites and deep-space missions. Our unique green propellant blend enables a new class of reliable and high-thrust reaction control and main propulsion systems designed for simplicity, performance, and scalability.

We are a small and passionate team of engineers and entrepreneurs with backgrounds in rocket propulsion, system engineering, and spacecraft design. Together, we are building the next generation of European satellite propulsion technology.

Your Role

As an Avionics Engineer, you will take ownership of the electronics and software that bring our propulsion systems to life. You will design, program, and test the hardware and embedded software responsible for valve actuation, ignition control, telemetry, and system health management both for test stands and for flight.

You'll work closely with propulsion, system, and mechanical engineers to develop robust, space-ready avionics that interface directly with our thrusters.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and develop PCB hardware for propulsion control and data acquisition
* Write embedded software for real-time control, sequencing, and telemetry
* Implement communication protocols
* Integrate and calibrate sensors (pressure, temperature, flow, thrust) and actuators (valves, igniters)
* Develop control algorithms and fault detection logic for autonomous operation
* Build hardware-in-the-loop setups and perform system-level tests
* Support EMC, environmental, and space qualification testing
* Collaborate with the team to define electrical and software interfaces across the system

Qualifications

* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or similar field
* 2+ years of experience in embedded systems development (professional or research)
* Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout
* Solid understanding of analog/digital electronics and sensor interfacing
* Familiarity with control systems, timing, and state machines
* Strong debugging and testing skills
* Fluent in English (German is a plus)

Nice to Have

* Background in aerospace, automotive, or high-reliability systems
* Knowledge of space standards (ECSS, DO-160, MIL-STD-461, etc.)
* Experience with data logging, telemetry, and ground software
* Familiarity with propulsion or fluid-control electronics

What We Offer

* The opportunity to design real flight hardware and software from scratch
* Work in a highly dynamic, mission-driven start-up environment
* Hands-on involvement in testing, integration, and launch preparation
* Flat hierarchies, fast decision-making, and genuine ownership
* Office and lab in Lucerne (Technopark Root D4), Switzerland

If you're passionate about space technology, love working across hardware and software, and want to see your code and electronics fly — we'd love to hear from you.
