Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sensor Development Engineer to join our Product Care Team in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing, characterizing, and optimizing electrochemical sensors for medical devices in the area of In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD).
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of materials science and their interactions with sensors and biological samples. You will be responsible for addressing product care topics arising in our in-house sensor production, implementing changes based on fundamental principles, experimental data, and simulation models, and supporting series production with technical expertise.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Addressing production issues such as deviations, root cause analysis, and risk assessment
* Investigating customer complaints, material, and design changes
* Planning, executing, evaluating results, and documenting work independently within development, product care, and operations support
* Testing and analyzing sensor designs in the lab using various characterization methods
* Taking responsibility for equipment and developing new tools, methods, and processes to evaluate sensors
* Supporting the team with scientific expertise and practical knowledge to understand and solve technical questions
* Interacting across the business with quality, operations, V&V, and business to support and coordinate design and material changes
You will have the opportunity to work on new development projects and contribute to the development of new characterization methods and implement them in test methods, setups, or tools.
Your Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, or engineering from a reputable institution
* Understanding of materials science and their interactions with sensors and biological samples
* Strong experience working in a highly regulated environment
* Ability to document results at a high technical level and communicate effectively in English
* Experience with characterization methods, Matlab, Excel, MiniTab, R, Python, and other relevant tools
* Open, flexible, and team-oriented with a strong ownership mindset
