About the role
We are looking for a Global Category Manager Fabrications and Subcontracting to join our Headquarter team in Winterthur.
As a Global Category Manager reporting directly to the Global Head of Supply Chain, you will be a key contributor to Sulzer's Excellence journey, you will be responsible to develop and drive cost-effective, high-quality supply chains, foster supplier innovation and mitigate risks — all while aligning with global business goals. This role offers high-impact collaboration, supplier relationship management, and the chance to influence procurement on a global level.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:
* Develop and execute global category strategies for fabricated parts and subcontracted manufacturing services
* Identify, qualify, and manage strategic suppliers; drive performance and foster innovation
* Lead cost competitiveness initiatives through sourcing, value engineering, and cross-functional collaboration
* Negotiate and manage contracts; ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and quality standards
* Monitor market trends and risks to maintain category competitiveness and supply chain resilience
* Leverage market intelligence and benchmarking to support strategic sourcing decisions and supplier development
* Drive cross-divisional collaboration to ensure consistent category management and significant impact across the organization.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business with 9+ years' experience in global strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement, ideally in project-based environments
* Strong technical understanding of fabrication processes (e.g. welding, machining, surface treatment) and relevant industry standards
* The capability to lead cross-divisional initiatives that strengthen enterprise wide consistency, impact, and category excellence
* Certifications such as CIPS or CPSM are an advantage
* Proven analytical and commercial acumen, with demonstrated negotiation and supplier development skills
* Familiarity with global sourcing markets, particularly in Eastern Europe, China, and India
* Fluent in English, any other language is a plus
* Flexibility to travel up to 50% based on project and business requirements
