The Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, commissioning, qualification and the reliable and compliant operation of the control system(s) installed
Main Responsibilities
Provide design support for the generation and configuration of the DeltaV system configuration
for the following utility and process systems which are monitored and controlled by the DeltaV
DCS.
o Black and Clean Utility generation, storage and distribution systems;
o Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning for the classified and non-classified areas within the site manufacturing and utility areas.
o Compounding and SIP/CIP system.
Review and approve Automation Requirements, Design, Test, Qualification and Validation
documentation.
Provide guidance and technical direction to the external System Integrator for the generation
and testing of the DeltaV DCS software configuration.
Support software FATs and SATs by approving documents and witnessing on behalf of Lonza as
Support the integrated commissioning of the DeltaV system software, hardware and interfaces
to the various process and utility systems listed above.
Support the 3rd Party Package Unit (PU) integration into the overall Project Dolphin Automation
/ OT landscape, including mapping the data interface and data exchanges between DeltaV and
the PUs.
Support the reliable operation of the various control systems by providing hands on support to
trouble shoot control system software and hardware issues.
Support the overall Dolphin Project Team to collate supporting information to allow timely
decisions to be made that will minimize cost, timeline and quality impact on the Project.
Collaborate with the MES team to facilitate deployment of electronic log books eLogs, and
integration with DeltaV.
Skills / Qualifications
The following system knowledge and experience is required to support the above activities:
Bachelor’s degree or trade qualification in Engineering (Electrical / Chemical / Process Control,
or related field).
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work
independently and as part of the Automation team.
5 to 10 years process control system design and configuration experience (essential).
5 years (minimum) DeltaV DCS hands on design and configuration experience, (essential).
Detailed understanding of S88 batch software structure (essential).
Knowledge of applicable Regulatory Requirements and Codes of Practices for automated
system, including CFR 21 Part 11, GAMP 5 2nd Edition. (desirable).
Experience in the Life Sciences Industries (desirable).
