Job Description At u-blox, we push the frontiers of satellite navigation from traditional GNSS to emerging LEO and hybrid positioning technologies. Our HPA Technology Team bridges the gap between research and product innovation, developing algorithms that define the next generation of resilient, trustworthy, and high-performance PNT solutions. We’re looking for a research-driven engineer who enjoys working hands-on with algorithms, simulations, and real receivers, a technical leader who can turn advanced concepts into tangible products used by millions.
This position can be located in Tampere, FI or Reigate, UK.
Your Responsibilities
You will lead the design, prototyping, and validation of state-of-the-art GNSS and LEO signal processing algorithms, working closely with experts in RF, embedded systems, and data science. Your research will directly shape our receiver architectures and embedded platforms.
You will :
Investigate and develop advanced signal processing algorithms for :
High-precision and resilient positioning
Spoofing detection and interference mitigation
Multi-antenna and diversity signal fusion
Multi-constellation, multi-frequency integration
LEO and NTN-based hybrid PNT systems
Prototype in Matlab / Python, optimize in C / C++, and integrate into embedded and edge platforms
Conduct performance evaluation, statistical analysis, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
Collaborate with internal and external research partners (academia, ESA, industry consortia)
Contribute to patents, publications, and internal know-how transfer
Your Skills and Experience
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field
Solid experience (10+ years) in GNSS, DSP, or advanced signal processing
Strong background in algorithm development, modelling, and simulation
Hands‑on expertise in Matlab / Python for research and C / C++ for implementation
Curiosity and creativity to explore novel ideas and discipline to see them through to product integration
Bonus
Experience in GNSS receiver R&D or similar wireless physical‑layer systems
Understanding of RF front-end effects, interference, and analog imperfections
Experience with SDR platforms (e.g., USRP, LimeSDR, RTL-SDR)
Familiarity with CI / CD, version control, and collaborative development workflows
What are your perks?
A multicultural and international company with over 60 different nationalities
Agile way of working with colleagues distributed across the globe
