Trainee in System Engineering for AI & Vision applications
The applied research and industrial activities conducted within the Edge AI and Vision section of CSEM are devoted to capture process and extract visual information from scenes. Our activity spreads from the development of complete system solution and innovative ASIC for pre-processing images to the high level algorithmic processing for extracting the captured information.
As a System Engineer Trainee you will participate in our efforts in research and development.
Your Responsibilities
* Develop and implement test setups in the laboratory for vision/optical system validation.
* Prepare, document, and operate optical characterization testbenches, ensuring repeatable and reliable experimental procedures.
* Perform data collection using prototypes and lab instrumentation for AI & vision applications.
* Carry out image sensor characterization (e.g., sensitivity, noise/SNR, dynamic range, uniformity, resolution, distortion) and evaluate performance against requirements.
* Analyze measurement results and produce technical reports, including test procedures, results interpretation, and recommendations.
* Participate in try-out testing of components intended for prototypes and public demonstrators (light sources, cameras, electronics, compute units, etc.).
* Assist in supplier sourcing for key components, supporting selection based on technical specs, availability, and cost.
Your Profile
Know-how
* Degree in Micro-Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Linux.
* Strong system engineering skills, especially integrating: optics/image sensors/electronics/mechanical housing / interfaces
* 3D Modelling and CAD Design (SolidWorks).
* Research Aptitude: demonstrated research experience through coursework or prior projects and show eagerness to engage in research activities and a willingness to learn and contribute to ongoing projects.
* Academic Excellence: strong academic record, with a history of outstanding performance in relevant coursework.
