They are currently seeking a Senior Enterprise Systems Engineer (Unix/Linux) in Basel to join a seasoned infrastructure engineering team. In this role, you will help maintain, enhance, and evolve critical enterprise platforms, with a focus on AIX and Linux systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability across the organization’s IT landscape.
Responsibilities: Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise-grade AIX environments, including virtualization components and system provisioning tools
Administer and enhance Unix/Linux platforms, ensuring reliable operation of underlying infrastructure such as storage, compute, and networking
Participate in infrastructure projects, from design through implementation, while continuously improving existing systems
Provide advanced technical support (2nd level), including participation in an on-call rotation
Ensure adherence to internal security standards, data protection policies, and change management processes
Develop and maintain automation workflows to streamline operational tasks
Profile: Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
Solid experience (approx. 5+ years) working with IBM AIX (7.x environments)
Hands‑on knowledge of enterprise storage technologies (e.g., SAN, network file systems, clustered file systems) and virtualization platforms
Professional fluency in English; fluency in German is deemed as an advantage
Practical experience with partitioning and virtualization management within AIX environments
Proven background in Linux system administration (preferably Red Hat‑based distributions)
Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Shell, Python, configuration management tools)
Familiarity with service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL)
Willingness to travel occasionally
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to prioritize effectively
Proactive, accountable, and able to perform under pressure
Team‑oriented with a structured and solution‑driven approach
