About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern, within the Purchasing department, the Purchasing Coordinator assists with all tasks related to the Purchasing department. The Purchasing Coordinator reports to the Purchasing Manager.
As Purchasing Coordinator, you will be responsible for the following duties:
1. Supporting and working with the Purchasing Manager
2. Monitoring stock levels and identifying purchasing needs
3. Tracking orders and ensuring timely delivery
4. Following up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
5. Updating internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts)
6. Conducting market research to identify pricing trends
7. Evaluating offers from vendors and negotiating better prices
8. Performing vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reduce operating costs, and manage inventory
9. Preparing cost analyses
10. Updating records of invoices and contracts
11. Maintaining cordial working relationships with vendors and supervising vendor activities
12. Liaising with receiving and store staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition and comparing deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies
As Purchasing Coordinator, we expect from you:
* Previous hotel purchasing experience preferred
* Knowledge of HACCP standards
* Hands-on experience with purchasing software and strong computer skills
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Good negotiation and analytical skills
* Fluent in German and English
