Position
Associate Research Manager (Ethiopia) – 11‑month contract starting May 2026, located in Kampala, Uganda with potential travel to Addis Ababa.
Functions
Responsible for overseeing research cycles within the unit, including preparation, data collection, analysis, drafting, dissemination and evaluation. Leads the PANDA Unit and manages partner engagement.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage international and national assessment team members, including recruitment, appraisals, capacity building and daily management.
* Develop work plans, performance indicators and capacity training plans; conduct regular check‑ins.
* Manage research cycles: assessment preparation, data collection, product drafting, dissemination and evaluation.
* Ensure stakeholder engagement and partner coordination throughout the research cycle.
* Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards.
* Represent the organization at cluster and sector meetings; coordinate presentations of findings.
* Contribute to strategy development and implementation for REACH Ethiopia country strategy.
* Accountability to communities and beneficiaries, ensuring respectful, consultative engagement.
Requirements
* Master’s degree with excellent academic qualifications.
* 3–5 years of program management, evaluation or assessment experience in humanitarian settings.
* Prior experience managing teams in an INGO context.
* Experience in quantitative and qualitative research within humanitarian or development contexts.
* Strong management, coordination, organisational and planning skills.
* Experience with external engagement—donors, partners, stakeholders.
* Familiarity with humanitarian coordination systems.
* Excellent internal and external communication and drafting skills.
* Strong analytical abilities.
* Fluency in English; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Experience with ODK/ONA/KOBO and qualitative data methods (FOCs, KII).
* Knowledge of Adobe Suite and Ethiopian context an asset.
* Willingness to relocate to Ethiopia, live in guesthouse and travel up to 50% to Kampala.
Compensation & Benefits
* Monthly salary 3,180 CHF – 3,240 CHF (before tax).
