The NCCR Children & Cancer brings together leading Swiss universities, hospitals and research institutions to establish a national and interdisciplinary framework dedicated to childhood cancer. Its mission is to advance fundamental and translational research, accelerate the transfer of innovation into clinical care and strengthen communication with society, with the ultimate goal of improving survival, quality of life and long term outcomes for children and adolescents affected by cancer in Switzerland. By uniting critical expertise across disciplines and cantonal borders, the NCCR aims to overcome fragmentation, build sustainable structures and position Switzerland as an international leader in pediatric oncology research and care.
To support this mission, we seek an experienced Managing Director who will ensure the effective coordination, governance and long term development of the NCCR, working closely with the directorate, partner institutions and funding bodies to enable scientific excellence, regulatory compliance and sustainable impact across the national network.
Your responsibilities
* Provide overall operational and strategic managment of the NCCR and coordinate all non-scientific activities across the network
* Directly support the NCCR directorate in governance, planning, reporting and day to day coordination
* Manage the NCCR network including collaboration between universities, hospitals and research institutions across cantonal borders
* Ensure full compliance with SNSF regulations and reporting obligations
* Act as the main contact point for the SNSF Administrative Offices and ensure efficient and transparent communication
* Coordinate and consolidate scientific, financial and strategic reports in collaboration with project leaders and host institutions
* Support financial planning, budget monitoring and resource allocation together with institutional finance units
* Coordinate the management team and supervise administrative staff
* Support evaluations, reviews and site visits by national and international panels
* Contribute to communication, outreach and long term sustainability of the NCCR structures
Your profile
* Proven management experience in Switzerland ideally in an academic or research environment
* Solid knowledge of financial planning, budgeting and reporting Experience in managing or coordinating large scale research projects or university consortia across cantonal borders
* Natural science background with strong understanding of interdisciplinary research
* Strong familiarity with the Swiss research, university and hospital landscape
* Ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
* Excellent conceptual, organisational and communicative skills
* Fluent in German, French and English written and spoken
* Political skills and established professional contacts within Swiss research and policy landscapes welcome
