About the role
The Global Category Manager Capex & MRO (“Maintenance, Repair and Operations”) will be a key driver in optimizing the company's spend. This role will lead the development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives for critical categories such as processing equipment, MRO, and related services, as well as managing tactical CAPEX sourcing. By collaborating with corporate and regional Engineering/Maintenance teams and global Project Managers, the successful candidate will ensure alignment of sourcing strategies with operational needs and project timelines. Additionally, this role will be pivotal in establishing long-term contracts that enhance operational efficiency, mitigate supply risks, and deliver significant cost savings, while also managing tactical buying activities for Capex to meet immediate business demands.
Key responsibilities include
1. Leading the development and implementation of global category strategies for assigned categories within Capex & MRO (“Maintenance, Repair and Operations”).
2. Identifying and realizing cost savings and value creation opportunities through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and innovation.
3. Driving supplier performance and contract compliance.
4. Managing complex negotiations and high-value contracts.
5. Forging contractual programs with suppliers, focusing on reducing the total cost of ownership through a long-term oriented supply base.
6. Collaborating closely with engineering teams to optimize equipment specifications for maximum processing output.
7. Mentoring internal customers on the application of contracted programs.
8. Managing medium to complex projects as assigned, involving significant investments.
9. Implementing standardized sourcing processes, creating regional/global supply agreements, and providing budgetary support for capital equipment.
10. Supporting and advising all BC facilities within the region with ongoing CapEx project purchases (RFx, analysis, negotiation, and award processes).
11. Evaluating comprehensive programs with integrated suppliers of the assigned categories.
12. Owning the commercial terms and conditions of negotiated deals.
13. Backfilling the Head of Capex & MRO Sourcing Category when required.
About you
* A minimum Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering.
* Over 10 years of similar global sourcing experience with centralized sourcing of technical goods (processing equipment and MRO).
* Technical knowledge and understanding of food processing equipment is a plus.
* Senior project management experience, preferably in a multi-plant or international environment, is mandatory.
* Proven experience with RFI/RFP procedures for capital equipment sourcing and MRO.
* Understanding of capital equipment projects and ability to support initiatives with TCO analysis.
* Strong negotiation skills, a hands-on attitude, and self-motivation.
* Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines across various plants, with attention to detail.
* Procurement experience in the food processing, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries is essential.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Fluent in English; French language skills are a plus.
* Travel requirement: approximately 10% on an ad hoc basis.
