Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and client-focused Associate Attorney to join our growing family law team. You will work directly with senior attorneys, representing clients in complex family law matters including divorce, child custody, child support, and domestic violence proceedings.
The position is currently remote, with a long-term goal of moving to a hybrid structure for those based in or near San Diego.
This role is critical to the firm's mission of delivering outstanding legal services while maintaining a client-centered and highly efficient practice.
Responsibilities
* Client Representation: Advocate for clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody, support modifications, and domestic violence cases.
* Legal Advice and Counseling: Guide clients through their options, helping them understand their rights and legal strategies with clarity and empathy.
* Case Management: Independently manage a caseload from intake to completion while maintaining regular client communication and meeting firm timelines.
* Document Drafting: Prepare pleadings, motions, declarations, settlement agreements, and other legal documents to the firm's standards.
* Negotiation and Settlement: Participate in settlement discussions and mediation to resolve matters efficiently and favorably.
* Court Appearances: Represent clients at hearings, trials, mediations, and case management conferences, including preparation of exhibits and evidence.
* Collaboration: Work closely with paralegals, intake specialists, and billing teams to drive case progress and deliver outstanding client service.
* Legal Research and Writing: Stay current with evolving family law statutes and case law; draft persuasive legal arguments and research memos.
Qualifications
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
License: Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
Experience: Minimum 4-5 years of experience practicing family law preferred; litigation experience is a strong plus.
