We are searching for the best talent for a Director, Value Chain Excellence (VCEx) Innovation & Digital Intelligence. This hybrid position will be located in Titusville, New Jersey, USA.
As Director, this role is responsible for serving as a senior techno‑functional leader within Johnson & Johnson’s Innovative Medicine Supply Chain (IMSC). The Director owns and scales enterprise digital capabilities—including Digital Value Chain and One Performance Management—combining product ownership, delivery leadership, and change enablement to drive repeatable, measurable value across planning, operations, and network design. The Director directly leads 3–4 employees and influences ~20 product, analytics, and transformation professionals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Set the digital capability strategy for Value Chain Management: define vision, strategy, and roadmaps that improve demand and supply planning, fulfillment, network design, and resilience; align delivery to planning rhythms and measurable supply chain metrics.
* Own end-to-end product and program governance: lead the lifecycle from discovery through deployment and scale; ensure sustained adoption, realized value, and disciplined product management practices.
* Lead One Digital Value Chain delivery: integrate planning, modeling, and decision‑support tools into a cohesive ecosystem; prioritize integrations with core planning and execution systems to operationalize decisions.
* Build and scale network design decision support: architect an end‑to‑end supply chain design data repository as a single source of reference; drive adoption of simulation, scenario analysis, and optimization to inform capital investment, sourcing strategy, site selection, and lifecycle planning.
* Lead One Performance Management: design, deploy, and sustain tiered performance management that links operational metrics to strategic outcomes; define metrics, enable real‑time visibility, and embed performance discussions into S&OP and monthly review cadences.
* Bring supply chain and systems expertise: provide hands‑on leadership across demand planning, supply planning, production planning, inventory strategy, and distribution; ensure digital solutions are grounded in operational reality and improve service, cost, and agility.
* Champion modern data, analytics, and engineering practices: drive reuse, data lineage, and model governance; enable automation and analytics using Python and SQL; partner with architecture, IT, and data science teams to adopt AI and advanced analytics appropriately.
* Lead stakeholders and change: partner across Value Chain Management, Digital & Data Strategy, Planning, MTO, Quality, Deliver, and other functions; secure sponsorship, align priorities in a matrixed environment, and deliver structured change management at scale.
* Develop talent and communities of practice: build and coach a high‑performing team and establish a network of digital ambassadors and SMEs to accelerate adoption, innovation, and cross‑functional collaboration.
* Provide techno‑functional leadership: connect technical solutions with planning and operational realities to deliver measurable outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
* Minimum of a Bachelor’s/University or equivalent degree is required; Master’s or MBA degree, and/or focused degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, or related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Required:
* Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience.
* Experience in supply chain, operations, and/or digital transformation with progressive leadership responsibility.
* Proven product ownership of enterprise supply chain capabilities, with accountability for road‑mapping, prioritization, delivery, and disciplined lifecycle governance at scale.
* Deep domain knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chain networks, including product launch planning, site selection, and lifecycle planning.
* Proven experience integrating and operating planning systems and end‑to‑end supply chain platforms.
* Demonstrated data and analytics orientation, leveraging analytics, simulation, and AI to inform decisions; required proficiency in Python for analytics and automation; SQL experience preferred.
* Proven track record influencing senior partners and leading change in complex, matrixed organizations.
* Strategic mentality with execution focus to balance long‑term vision with pragmatic, value‑driven delivery.
* People leadership experience, with the ability to develop and coach talent and build cross‑functional teams.
* Strong financial competence, with a demonstrated ability to align digital investments with business value and manage budgets.
Preferred:
* Experience with major planning systems and system integrations.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms and APIs.
* Hands‑on experience in Demand planning or Supply planning.
OTHER:
* Requires proficiency in English (excellent written and verbal communication skills).
* Up to 20% domestic and international travel may be required.
* Requires the ability, through our flexible work policy, to work on‑site a minimum of three days each week, with the option for two remote workdays each week.
