Public Health Adjunct - Remote Description
South College Online seeks candidates for an adjunct Public Health faculty member. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in Public Health, and preference will be given to candidates who have successfully taught Public Health in the online format. The position is online remote and will report directly to the Department Chair.
Specific Courses
* Introduction to Health Administration - This course introduces the student to administrative theories, methods, and tasks that are essential to a successful administrator. It includes an introduction to health-care delivery systems, decision-making, and the management functions.
* Foundations of Public Health Practice - This course will explore the principles and concepts on which public health practice is based. It will provide students with a broad framework for understanding the impact of public health practice on population health.
* Community and Population Health - This course will explore the impact of the social determinants of health, health disparities, health inequity, and health inequality from the community and population perspective. Students will assess health outcomes and use behavioral and social science to provide appropriate responses to develop, improve and facilitate social and behavioral change efforts.
* Public Health Policy and Administration - This course explores the public health systems, processes and policies used to shape the provision of healthcare. Students focus on administration, regulations and laws, financing, need and demand, and quality of care related to health policy in the United States. Policy decisions and the consequences of those decisions are examined.
* Planning and Evaluation - This course provides an opportunity for integration of the student public health knowledge and skills. Students reflect on the public health competencies and frameworks to demonstrate scholarship through research of a public health issue.
* Environmental Health - This course explores the biological, chemical, and physical factors affecting human health and the environment. The course provides students with practical applications for a safer and healthier environment and also focuses on the impact of these factors on public health and society including approaches to regulations, enforcement, and policy development.
Responsibilities
* Teach Public Health courses in an online learning environment.
* Develop and deliver course content that meets program and institutional standards.
* Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
* Collaborate with the Department Chair and faculty to enhance course quality and student engagement.
Requirements
Education
* Terminal degree in Public Health required.
Experience
* Applicants must have a terminal degree in Public Health with successful completion of a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework in subject matter field of Public Health.
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
* Commitment to fostering student learning and success in a virtual environment.
* Preference will be given to applicants with prior successful online teaching.
