Job title: Partnership Development Manager

Reports to: Director of Partnership Development and Fundraising

Location: Geneva, Switzerland (hybrid working possible, two days a week)

Availability: As soon as possible

Contract type: full time, permanent


About UICC

The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is the largest global membership organisation dedicated to reducing the global cancer burden and promoting greater equity. Headquartered in Geneva, UICC brings together 1,100+ member organisations across 170 countries and territories, including cancer societies, research institutes, treatment centres, government agencies and patient support groups.

UICC drives impact by convening and supporting the global cancer community, building capacities, shaping policy, and delivering high-profile initiatives such as World Cancer Day, the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit and the World Cancer Congress. UICC is also spearheading priority programmes including the Access to Oncology Medicines (ATOM) Coalition, an initiative aiming to increase access to oncology medicine across 46 countries.

Over the next 3 years, UICC is focused on implementing its new business plan which will deliver global impact in cancer control and be driven by an increase in staff levels from 50 to 80 and funding of the organisation by more than 50%.

The Partnership Development team works across the organisation to nurture and engage the and execute an effective fundraising strategy for UICC’s activities and programmes.

The Partnership Development team is responsible for securing at least 75% of the total operational budget of UICC.

The team focuses on:

* Diversifying funding sources and engaging new partners that share UICC’s mission and values
* Deepening existing partnerships to advance global cancer control together


Summary of the position

The Partnership Development Manager fundraises, develops and manages long term strategic partnerships with UICC members and other organisations.

As part of the Partnership Development team, S/he will develop and implement effective strategies for income generation within the existing partnership structure.

S/he will work with the teams across UICC and other external partners to deliver successful fundraising activities targeted at companies, foundations, cancer organisations, and high net worth individuals.

This role is instrumental in supporting UICC’s strategic ambition and the Partnership Development Manager will play a key role in identifying and cultivating new funding streams, while deepening existing partnerships.


Main responsibilities


Strategic thinking

* The Partnership Development Manager will work closely with the Director of Partnership Development and Fundraising to translate UICC’s strategic fundraising goals into actionable partnership plans, ensuring alignment across teams and consistency in donor engagement.
* Conduct market intelligence and donor landscape analyses to inform strategic positioning and proposal development.
* Develop tailored engagement strategies for new donor segments, including foundations and institutional donors, in coordination with the Director of Partnership Development and Fundraising.
* Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities from foundations, bilateral, multilateral agencies, and/or mission-aligned corporate programmes.
* Contribute to the execution of the partnership and fundraising strategy and annual plan
* Lead the development and submission of grant proposals
* Establish, maintain and strengthen relations with key UICC funding partners, members, the Board of Directors and other external stakeholders
* Write and produce donor reports


Representation and stakeholder engagement

* Represent UICC to external constituencies. This could include formal and informal presentations, attending conferences, working with advisory groups.
* Make clear and informed recommendations and prepare briefs on where and how to use UICC’s leadership voice (the CEO and the President, as well as Board members) for fundraising and partnership building.


Skills and experience

* An advanced degree in business, international relations, public health, development studies, or related field.
* Minimum 5 years of professional experience in partnership development, fundraising, or business development, preferably in global health, development, or international NGOs.
* Experience working in or with international organisations, with an appreciation for working in a multicultural, mission-driven environment.
* Proven success in securing grants and partnerships with private sector entities, philanthropic foundations or bilateral donors.
* Demonstrated experience in designing and submitting large grant proposals to international donors.
* Strong ability to organise and prioritise work and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
* Strong negotiation and networking skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to build compelling value propositions and influence senior-level stakeholders.
* Full professional proficiency in English and French required; another UN language is an asset.
* Permit to work in Switzerland
