Job Description
On behalf of our partner agency in Switzerland a wonderful young family is looking for a warm and genuinely energetic nanny‑educator / nanny‑governess to help look after their children. Nanny should be fluent in English or French to native level.
This is a sole and shared charge position. Mum is currently not working but will go back to work in future, and until then she will fully respect and support nanny. This is a super opportunity for a nanny who is passionate about nurturing children and giving them the very best start in life.
One of our wonderful maternity nurses says they are wonderful and wonderful to work for! It is a great opportunity to work for an excellent employer.
The first 3 months you will live in with the family, you will have your own bedroom and bathroom, and if all is going well the family will then provide you with an apartment, which is close by.
If you can drive, they might provide a nanny car.
Mum is really easy‑going and down to earth, fun. She wants a great working relationship with the nanny. She respects and supports her nannies and wants to enable them to do the best possible job and to be happy and stay long term.
While the two older children are at school (until 3 or 4pm) nanny will be with baby. When the older children are home mum will take over care of the baby and nanny only needs to look after the two older children.
Responsibilities and Expectations
Responsibilities:
* Planning and leading age‑appropriate activities that support learning, creativity, independence, and confidence.
* Maintaining consistent daily routines, including school transitions, mealtimes, quiet time, bath time, and bedtime routines.
* Supporting the children’s emotional development, social skills, manners, and respectful behaviour through calm, consistent boundaries and positive guidance.
* Encouraging independence and responsibility in line with Montessori‑inspired principles.
* Organising outdoor play, physical activities, educational outings, playdates, and enriching experiences.
* Supporting early learning, including reading, fine motor skills, language development, and age‑appropriate educational activities.
* Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the children and assisting with children’s laundry, bedroom organisation, and other nursery duties.
* Working collaboratively with parents and other household staff to ensure consistency and a calm, structured environment.
The family seeks a nanny who is warm, energetic, and highly experienced, but also confident in maintaining boundaries and providing leadership.
Experience supporting strong‑willed, energetic children and promoting emotional regulation, independence, and good manners would be highly valued.
Occasional travel to the family's home in the mountains, and maybe once per year international travel.
Family Ethos
Our family ethos is centred around raising kind, confident, capable, and respectful children within a calm, loving, and structured environment.
We believe children thrive when they are provided with clear boundaries, consistent routines, and age‑appropriate expectations, while also being given the opportunity to develop independence, curiosity, and self‑confidence. We aim to combine warmth with structure, encouraging good manners, respect for others, emotional awareness, and personal responsibility from an early age.
We place a strong emphasis on outdoor play, active lifestyles, learning through everyday experiences, creativity, and fostering a love of reading and discovery. We are inspired by Montessori principles, encouraging children to participate in daily life, develop practical skills, and become increasingly independent as they grow.
We value calm, respectful communication and seek to guide behaviour through consistency, positive role‑modeling, and natural consequences rather than punishment. Our goal is not perfection, but to help our children develop the skills, habits, and character that will allow them to thrive both within the family and in the wider world.
Parenting Style
Our parenting style combines warmth, connection, and clear boundaries. We believe children feel safest and thrive best when expectations are consistent, routines are predictable, and adults provide calm and confident leadership.
We aim to be loving, engaged, and responsive parents while also encouraging respect, independence, resilience, and personal responsibility.
We believe children benefit from learning that emotions are always accepted, but certain behaviours are not. We focus on helping our children develop emotional regulation, good manners, self‑control, and consideration for others.
We are inspired by Montessori principles and encourage independence, practical life skills, problem‑solving, and participation in daily family life. We place a strong emphasis on outdoor play, learning through experience, reading, creativity, and age‑appropriate responsibilities.
Behaviour is managed through consistency, routine, natural and logical consequences, and calm follow‑through rather than harsh punishment. We value respectful communication and seek to create a home environment that is structured, nurturing, and development‑focused.
We are looking for a nanny who shares a similar philosophy and can confidently uphold boundaries while maintaining a warm, positive, and supportive relationship with the children.
To be accepted for an interview with this lovely family and excellent position you will need to possess a Swiss or EU passport.
Requirements
* Good references for recent and relevant nanny jobs
* Recent Paediatric First Aid certificate
* Proof of right to work in Switzerland, by showing a valid EU/Swiss passport
* Baby experience
* Ability to run after young children
* Availability long term
* Driver preferred but not a requirement
* Strictly non‑smoking position
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be warm, calm, loving and able to be strict with boundaries. Organised, and highly experienced in supporting young children’s development. A Norland qualification would be highly valued, however we are equally open to candidates with strong professional experience in early childhood education, Montessori settings, nurseries, schools, or private households.
We are seeking someone who is confident providing structure and clear boundaries while maintaining a positive, nurturing relationship with the children. Experience supporting independence, emotional regulation, good manners, and age‑appropriate development is particularly important.
The successful candidate will be proactive, energetic, and comfortable working collaboratively with parents and other household staff. Previous experience in professional or high‑profile households would be beneficial, although we are ultimately looking for the right personality, values, and childcare expertise rather than a specific background.
