Job Responsibility
Research & Optical Design
Participate in R&D programs across medtech, illumination, and data/telecom sectors, focusing on the development of advanced microtechnology-based components and systems.
Design and optimize microstructured components and microsystems, integrating optical, mechanical, and material considerations for high‑precision performance.
Support laboratory and cleanroom activities related to microfabrication, assembly, and metrology (optical and mechanical), including process validation.
Support optical simulations, modeling, and tolerance analyses to meet demanding performance and manufacturability targets.
Product Development & Industrialization
Plan and manage technical development projects
Execute or supervise product development activities in close collaboration with Production, Quality, Sales, and Customer Support teams
Define product specifications aligned with company capabilities and technology platforms.
Conduct manufacturing feasibility assessments and participate in design for‑manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
Ensure effective documentation, reporting, and handover from R&D to production during pilot and industrialization phases.
Product Improvement & Qualification
Contribute to continuous improvement and re‑qualification activities for existing products and processes.
Propose and implement improvement strategies for specific process blocks or optical components.
Participate in reliability testing and qualification of new designs or materials.
Technical Support & Customer Interaction
Provide technical feasibility assessments and support Sales and Product Line Management (PLM) teams during the pre‑sales phase.
Interface with customers to clarify technical requirements and ensure feasibility within company capabilities.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues identified by customers during evaluation or early production phases.
Professional skills
Knowledge of optical modelling tools (ZEMAX, FRED, VirtualLab, …)
Understanding of microfabrication processes, optical metrology, and manufacturing integration.
Experience managing R&D projects from concept to industrialization. · Skilled in numerical computing software tools (MatLab, Pyhton, …).
Preferably knowledge in micromachining or microfabrication technology
Additional qualifications or experience in project management or quality are a plus.
Excellent communications skills, self‑motivated and flexible.
Ability to work as an effective team player, who is proactive and takes initiative (problem solving).
Good knowledge of the photonics markets, material science or optical coatings are useful.

Profile
MSc or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, Microtechnology, or related field.
Work experience: 3 years working experience in Microtechnology, optics, semiconductor or other manufacturing industries is preferred,
English proficiency: English can be used as working language
French is a plus.
Computer operation: proficient in the use of standard office software
