Job Description

The Health & Wellness division is part of ADM’s global Nutrition business, which includes the Human & Animal Nutrition and Health & Wellness (Human, Pets & Animal) divisions. The Global Health & Wellness R&D team operates across six locations — North America, Spain, Ireland, England, Switzerland, and China — and focuses on developing cutting-edge, science-based solutions that advance health and well-being.
The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Microbiome Health & Wellness R&D Center and will be based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
As Biobank and Microbiome Applications Manager, you will play a key role in driving microbiome research projects and developing innovative, science-based wellness ingredients that differentiate ADM in the microbiome markets.

Your Responsibilities:

1. Establish, manage, and expand ADM’s microbial biobank, including registration, cryostock preparation, preservation, and inter-site transfers.
2. Isolate, identify, and characterize new microorganisms from environmental, food, feed, and veterinary samples to build and enrich the microbial collection.
3. Develop preclinical microbiome models and simulators for pets, aquaculture, and livestock.
4. Apply omics technologies and data-driven approaches to understand microbial genotypes, phenotypes, and metabolic pathways.
5. Lead R&D projects in collaboration with internal teams, global ADM sites, and external partners, ensuring scientific excellence and timely delivery.
6. Ensure BSL2 laboratory operations, SOP development, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
7. Coordinate the insourcing of microbial biobanks, including technical, legal, and regulatory checks in collaboration with R&D, regulatory, and legal teams.
8. Supervise and mentor a team of scientists and technicians, setting goals, monitoring progress, and supporting professional development.
9. Promote a strong safety culture within the laboratory — only zero accidents is acceptable.
10. Communicate project progress, prepare for internal and external audits, and represent ADM in scientific meetings and conferences.
11. Scout and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to microbiome and biobank research.
12. Support the development of ADM’s external R&D ecosystem by building strong relationships with research partners and customers.
Your Profile:
13., Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
14. 5–10 years of R&D experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or strain development, ideally within large or international organizations.
15. Proven expertise in BSL2 laboratory management and microbiological techniques.
16. Experience with dynamic in vitro digestion and fermentation models.
17. Familiarity with regulatory requirements for microbial strain registration and biobank operations.
18. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary research lines.
19. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
20. Innovative, collaborative, and capable of translating strategy into actionable research programs.
21. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional, international teams.
Our Offer:
22. Challenging tasks, short decision-making processes, and a high level of personal responsibility in a modern work environment with flexible working models.
23. Room for innovative thinking and professional growth, with the opportunity to shape your own career path.
24. Excellent career opportunities within a world-leading nutrition company.
25. An attractive compensation package, including a variety of social benefits such as subsidized health and fitness offers.
