Datacenter Network Engineer

Responsibilities
• Creation of solution architectures and concepts
• Creation of high-level, detailed, test, and integration concepts
• Setup and execution of Proofs of Concept (PoCs) in the lab and integration environment.
• Conducting evaluations and homologation for procurement
• Leading task forces and working groups to resolve incidents and problems
• Analyzing the existing environment for improvement potential and developing and implementing improvement concepts
• Working during maintenance windows and on weekends
• On-call availability
• First and second level support for IT infrastructure services
• Ensuring service transition and service operation for the benefit of the operational organization, which cannot be covered by internal personnel. Datacenter Network Engineer

• Testing software and patches for release management across the three production levels: test, integration, and production (FAT/SAT testing).
• Ensuring the availability of IT services in test, integration, and production environments.
• Keeping the operational and management software, firmware, and drivers of the assigned IT service up to date.
• Assessing security threats and the effectiveness of assigned network components across the three production levels: test, integration, and production (FAT/SAT testing).
• Testing software and patches for release management across the three production levels: test, integration, and production (FAT/SAT testing).
• Ensuring the availability of IT services in test, integration, and production environments.
• Keeping the operational and management software, firmware, and drivers of the assigned IT service up to date.
• Assessing security threats and the effectiveness of necessary security measures.
• Initiation, if necessary, of appropriate measures to ensure security.
• Training of employees on specialist topics.
• Consulting and support for the client's developers and users.
• Consulting and resolution of complex problems in the specialist field.
• Creation, revision, and adaptation of specifications, test documents, checklists, operational concepts, operating manuals, and user guides.
• Development of technical layouts and specifications as a basis for implementation.
• Planning and maintenance of documentation systems such as IPAM (IP address management) and RMDB (Resource Management Database).
• Maintenance of existing system documentation.
• Rollout of systems into production.
• Creation, submission (change management), and implementation of approved change requests.
• Remote support for on-site installation and commissioning (installation is performed by a third party).
• Performance of operational tasks for LAN/WAN network services to ensure the operational readiness of the armed forces and the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS).
• System operation service.
• Testing and releasing installations (SAT tests).
• Monitoring of network management systems.
• Configuration and management of the assigned IT service.
• Reviewing and optimizing the system performance of the assigned IT service.
• Analyzing, documenting, and resolving events, incidents, and problems.
• Leading task forces and working groups to resolve incidents and problems.
• Analyzing the existing environment for improvement potential and developing and implementing improvement concepts.
• Working during maintenance windows and on weekends.

Work Location
This requires work at customer premises in Bern (main), Dübendorf.
Remote work is not possible.
